The MIEA National Real Estate Awards is organized annually by the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents. The awards are designed to recognize outstanding achievements of Real Estate Agents, Real Estate Firms, Real Estate salesperson (Negotiators) and those who have contributed to the Real Estate industry as a whole. The awards will be judged based on performances from 1st January 2010 to 31st December 2010 under each category.
Winners of the award will be recognized throughout the country as leaders in their respective fields. These awards will be an attestation of their contribution to the industry and how they have excelled in their respective fields and the winners will enjoy a powerful marketing platform.
There will be nine categories of Awards to be presented in all aspects of the profession and one category to recognize the Real Estate Salesperson of the year. This award gives recognition to the real estate salesperson who has played an important role in the industry. For the first time, a separate award has been created for State Branches - The State Agency of the Year Award.
These awards will be independently judged by a panel of judges invited from associations, NGO's and leading business personalities. The Awards will be presented at the MIEA Annual Dinner to be held on 23 September 2011 at the Dorset Regency Hotel in Subang Jaya. The theme for the night is aptly coined as "Where Eagles Soar".

"Behind the quiet demeanour of Dato' Alan Tong Kok Mau, hides a man of immense talent and great energy whose shrewd business acumen and commitment to quality earned him the title of the Condominium King of Malaysia”
Those were the words used to describe Dato’ Alan Tong Kok Mau when he received the coveted Medal of Honour from the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) in 1998.
Needless to say, Dato’ Alan Tong still has that “immense talent and great energy” which undoubtedly led him to be elected as the World President of FIABCI International for 2005/2006. He is the first and only Malaysian to hold the office of FIABCI World President. In May 2010, Dato’ Alan Tong was bestowed the Honorary World President for his distinguished and outstanding service and leadership to FIABCI and to the international real estate industry.
An architectural graduate from the University of Sydney in 1959, he founded Sunrise Sdn Bhd, a property development firm in 1968. His stewardship of Sunrise Sdn Bhd was shortened when he became a Selangor State Assemblyman for two terms (1974-1982), and in the second term, he was also a State Executive Councillor for Selangor.
Dato’ Alan Tong resumed stewardship of Sunrise Sdn Bhd in December 1985. He chartered the course for the company’s growth during the property slump of 1986 until it was listed on the Main Board of the KLSE in 1996.
It was in 1997 that he decided to sell his stake in the company just before the economic recession hit the country, a move that many acknowledge to be a testament of his foresight.
In year 2000, Dato’ Alan Tong together with his son, NK Tong formed Bukit Kiara Properties (BKP) to embark on niche and innovative real estate development. He is now the Group Chairman of BKP and the Chairman of FIABCI Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat.
Dato’ Alan Tong brought with him a wealth of experience, culled from his close association and involvement with public, social and welfare organisations. In November 2010, he was named Property Man of the Year 2010 during the FIABCI Malaysia Property Award.

Although they have been in the past diversified to provide services in all the sectors of real estate, i.e. residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural properties, the recent economic downturn in 1997 had streamlined their scope of marketing to focus on residential properties and new project developments. This was undoubtedly a change in strategy to overcome the slowdown in the overall property market. To date, they also cater for upmarket residential properties and assist expatriates in the rental of these properties. Their customers for secondary properties range from corporate clients to individuals from the public who come through referrals, personal contacts, media advertisements etc.
